2011 referendum

Coinciding with the 2011 General Election in New Zealand, an indicative referendum will be held, with 2 questions. The first asks whether the voter wants to keep the present MMP electoral system. The second asks which of several alternatives would be the voter’s choice if it is decided that the system is to be changed. This page collects some useful sources of information.

  • NZ Electoral Commission referendum website contains a large amount of information and links
  • Voting systems simulator by Geoffrey Pritchard and Mark Wilson – an attempt to compute seat allocations of parties under all 5 voting systems
  • Public Address referendum tool developed by Graeme Edgeler
